Hey guys,
I wanted to get my first official article out of the way before I made an informal post. What did you think of it? Any feedback is appreciated as long as it is constructive. It seems to have gotten mainly positive attention other than the 1 person who voted on my poll on the side to say that they did not enjoy it because it was not interesting to them. I still appreciated their honesty. Other activists have been nice enough to retweet it or share it on Facebook and I’m sure I got some great views and a bit of credibility from that, which is so helpful for my cause and our common cause.
I like to make these personal posts between my articles because a decent, well-researched article takes quite a bit of effort. I’m pretty sure my girl wasn’t thrilled when she texted me Sunday evening to see what I was up to and my reply was that I couldn’t talk for the rest of the day because I’m writing a blog post (my day generally goes until 2-3 AM because of personal preference). Still, it felt great to use creative muscles that haven’t been used much since I stopped trying to write short stories about 5 years ago. I feel like I’m rusty, but still decent enough for my little blog.
To be honest, the main reason I started this blog was not for immediate views. In the course of my extensive internet research (I’m a bit of a knowledge junkie. If only more of that knowledge weren’t useless…) I found that a lot of the information I was looking for was only on forums and random blog posts. It seems the ingenuity and curiosity of some motivated users has provided for the spread of cannabis information that the mainstream is not interested in. As usual, internet users to my rescue.
I’m not conceited enough to think I am writing some great treatise or even articles that are very interesting to many people. What I am is motivated enough to spread as much accurate information as possible in one easily accessible place, so that there is even more out there for other curious users in the future. While I appreciated the help from forums and other pages for gaining pieces of information to put together as a whole, I felt like there was too much conflicting and/or not-properly-researched information. Also, anyone who reads forums regularly knows the nonsense that you have to sift through. Many casual readers have no interest in wading through the muck and I don’t blame them.
I think it’s great that some people are reading my posts as they come out. It makes me feel like I am doing something right. But I am still only shooting for 24 views per day. If even 1 person per hour sees that this blog exists, whether they read it fully or not, I consider myself to be successful enough. Thank you for taking the time to read it, especially those who are helping me to get it some attention and providing helpful feedback.
This fight is all of ours, but it is very personal to me for obvious reasons. Every single person that supports me, rather than pitying me and scratching their head, means more to me than you will ever know. I am not a helpless victim and don’t intend to be treated like one any longer. Thank you. You are wonderful.
