Marc Emery embracing his wife Jodie.
Marc Emery, the founder of Cannabis Culture who is commonly referred to as the Prince of Pot, is officially back home in Canada as of Tuesday, August 12th, and was able to embrace his wife as a free man for the first time in five years.
“After five years of prison you can’t scare me,” Marc said in front of media yesterday, proclaiming that he will continue the activism that he became known for prior to his arrest.
In 2010, Marc was extradited from Canada, to Seattle, where he pleaded guilty to the distribution of cannabis seeds (through his company) to American customers; he was sentenced to five years.
During their press release of his arrest, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) made it clear that the arrest was politically charged, claiming that it’s “a significant blow” to the cannabis legalization movement, and that “Drug legalization lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on” – Marc is known for donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to efforts aimed at legalizing cannabis.
Marc says he will continue to advocate for cannabis policy reform, will support his wife’s political campaign to run for the Liberals in Vancouver East and will embark on a speaking tour that includes visits to Spain and Ireland.
