Initiatives to decriminalize cannabis in the Michigan cities of Berkley, Huntingwood and Pleasant Ridge have been approved this evening, with all three garnering over 60% of the vote with a majority of the precincts reporting in.

In Berkley, polling shows the initiative at 66% support, with support at 71% in Huntingwoods, and over 80% in Pleasant Ridge. Although these numbers will change once reporting is finished, it’s an essential certainty that all three will finish above 50%.

Once these initiatives take effect, the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis will no longer be a criminal penalty for those 21 and older.

Similar initiatives are on the ballot in several other Michigan cities, though results have yet to come in.
