Denver on the Eve of First Recreational Cannabis Sales

Please forgive me if I don’t respond to personal messages for the next few days. Denver is going crazy with the first day of recreational marijuana sales tomorrow. I’ll be covering The Black & White New Year’s Eve Gala Fundraiser at Casselman’s tonight. Many thanks to The Hemp Connoisseur for granting me a media pass. I’ll probably be leaving the event right after the toast at midnight so that I can help out Weed Cup Magazine with some “man on the street” interviews of recreational consumers early tomorrow morning. Jane West, the owner of Edible Events Co., has also organized a media tour including a tour of O.Pen Vape Headquarters and visits to a few dispensaries and grow houses. My thanks to Jane for allowing me to attend. O.PenVAPE/Organa Labs issued a press release yesterday explaining how they are working to have their innovative product licensed and sold by responsible partners in all 20 states with legal cannabis laws. In a statement, Executive VP for Corporate Development, Todd Mitchem said, “Affiliated licensees will also get access to a huge selection of new products, oil production secrets and assistance with their states’ regulations.  There is no other cannabis-related product company that can claim that.” Their stated commitment to quality is something I look forward to seeing more of from the legal cannabis industry in the coming year. I hope to speak with them more...

Jenny Kush memorial rally held at CO state capitol

Known to her friends and the Cannabis Community as Jenny Kush, Jennifer Monson, 34, was tragically killed by a drunk driver in September of this year. Kush was a very active and vocal member of the activism scene in Colorado and co-hosted the SexPot Radio show hosted on iCannabisRadio.com. The radio broadcast highlighted what she said were two of her favorite topics of discussion; sex and cannabis. She advocated for people to embrace their sexuality rather than hide from it and to enrich their lives through cannabis use.Denver, CO- Cannabis activists yesterday held a celebration/protest at the State Capitol building....

Cannabition Cancelled; Denver Officials Threaten Action Against Organizers, Participants

Written by Skyler Cannabaceae An open letter was published today by the owners and organizers of Cannabition.com, a website set up to disseminate information about the planned Cannabition 2014 event in Denver. The letter explained that the NORAD Club, which was the venue for the event’s celebration party, had received notification from the City of Denver that the event is off. The following is an except from the letter the owners of the NORAD Club received from the City of Denver: “We provide you with this letter to dissuade you from hosting the event;however, if you go forward, we will exercise any and all options available to the City of Denver to halt the event and hold the business owners responsible for violations of law. We are also ready to hold individual attendees responsible forviolations of City ordinances prohibiting public consumption of marijuana.” The event was billed as a gathering to celebrate the recreational marijuana laws that take effect in Colorado as of January 1. Organizers had this to say of the event, “A group of responsible adults should be able to celebrate the historic opening of retail marijuana stores on Jan 1, 2014 – in private – in a way that isn’t public to the 85% of the adult population who don’t consume cannabis, while also giving the 15% of adults who do choose cannabis the ability to lawfully celebrate...

Live Blog: The Secret Cup National Finals- Denver, CO

Saturday December 14, 2013  (Day One) 5:35 PM- I just chatted with some great guys from The Lazy Lion in Colorado Springs. It sounds like a really nice member-based social club. They really got my attention when they said that they show the MMA PPV events. I know where I’ll be next event! They had some oil from a fellow vendor. It was called Cherry Pie and it gave me such an amazing high. I walked around outside even though my back has been bothering me. It’s like heaven here. The next event I go to has a lot to live up to so far. Check out some Cherry Pie Colorado-style!   4:55 PM- Did a dab at 4:20. That was fun. I’ve been talking to some really great people. There are free dabs of world class oil everywhere. What a great event. A rapper named Erik Evans is on stage now amping up the crowd and I love his vibe.   4:12 PM- Just read a copy of the petition that Aisis is circulating in Florida. Details later but I like the looks of it so far. Here’s a look at the crowd. It’s a very chill environment here.   3:57 PM- Got to the event finally. Small complication getting in, but the guy running it, Daniel, made sure it was taken care of quick. Did my first...
